Now a shortage of reloading tools?

Being setup to reload, cast lead and powder coat, the only caliber I didn't have tools for was for my 1911 in 45 ACP. I have plenty of lead, powder, brass and 1K of primers left. So, I figured I'd order a set of Lee dies and a Lee 230 2R bullet mould. Nope!

Let's step it up and look at RCBS dies. Nada. Sold out. Did that shortage start when the recent ammo shortage hit?

There is no shortage. You need to look at more than one store.
Plenty of 45acp reloading dies in stock.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

They aren't used to the influx of people getting into reloading because they can't find ammo. Same as TP, they may or may not ramp up production cause hiring and running machines takes time and money. Each company has to do their maximization calculations including potential price increase/profit due to shortage.

I dare ya to find a Lee 9mm bullet mold or a .358 for 38 Spl. They have all been gone for some time. You might find one on ebay but I would imagine it's gonna be spendy. Pawn shops is another possibility. Good luck.

I see some Lee dies on ebay.

Graf has some too. It does look like the 45acp is a little harder to find.
Lee 45 ACP Pistol 3-Die Set includes Carbide Full Length Sizing Die, Bullet Seating Die, Powder Thru Expanding Die, Universal Shell Holder, Powder Dipper and Instructions/Load Data.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I've had some orders pending from Brian at OC Reloading for a month or so now. Occasionally something appears. The place seems really busy. Much busier than before. I find myself looking to alternatives and making work-arounds.

It's going to be a field day for bargain hunters when this is all over! Just like the last time and the time before that.

In the mean time, I just shot 200 rounds of 45ACP and 200 rounds of 40 S&W this afternoon.

Went shopping today at the local gun shops. Surprized to see lots of ammo for sale. Lots of shoppers, too! Only found one set of Lee .45 ACP dies and they were for auto rim. Perfect! I also own a S&W 1917 in 45 auto rim and just need to use a different shell holder for regular 45 acp. Yay!

Could not find any 45 cal, 230 grain bullet moulds. But did score a box of 500, cast 230 grain RN for $54. So, I bit the bullet on those.

One old timer next to me asked if they had any small pistol primers. The salesman literally laughed out loud at him.

FYI a 45 ACP and .308 Winchester use the same shellholder.

I have posted than when I went to the Dillon Scottsdale Store in July, they literally had no machines in stock to ship or sell.
1600 sets of 9mm dies on back order, all paid.
1700 sets of .223 dies on back order, all paid.

I have been able to find new Dillon 45 dies for $60 shipped.
Just waiting to get the conversion kit.

I'm not going to get into casting yet, until I move out of state, there are no more cheap and easy sources of lead, like wheel weights, range waste, etc.
