Here's how I avoid breaking mine (yeah, I know it's too late).

I raise the ram without using any force until the pin makes contact, and only then do I apply pressure. I can tell when the case is not aligned correctly in the die and back off the ram to troubleshoot.

Other than Berdan primers, I'm guessing most broken pins are caused by enthusiastically raising the ram because we want to go through that stack of cases as possible (but I might be wrong).

I've bought the squirrel OEM ones from the usual scumbags:

You can punch one of these through a Berdan case easily. I've only managed to bend one once, and that was due to a rock being in the case.
