Powder shipment delayed by security check...

I ordered some jugs of Varget from Natchez and it was shipped today. I took a look at the tracking info and saw this:

PKG DELAY-ADD'L SECURITY CHECK BY GOV'T OR OTHER AGENCY- BEYOND UPS CONTROL / PACKAGE WILL BE DELIVERED NEXT BUSINESS DAY-NO SATURDAY GUARANTEE

Anyone venture a guess what this is all about?

Apparently others have had this same issue:

So I am finally getting somebody to ship me my gun powder. I've attempted to order it from Midway, Some other reloader online store, and now finally Natchez Shooting Supply. My midway order was canceled because though the showed that they had some in stock they evidential didn't and couldn't...

Same thing with my order from Cabelas, I had ordered 2 boxes of Lapua .308 brass, it arrived 1 day after that same msg was posted on the tracking page.

ya might want to read this thread:

That much powder probably got on someone's radar... 48lbs translates to a friggin lot of ammo though...
According to this CDC document the firearms related death rate has been surpassed by the poisoning death rate.

Time for an assault drain-cleaner ban?

I spoke with a rep at Natchez this morning and he said that this has become very common with their hazmat shipments in the past few weeks. My shipment has been in limbo for 3 days now.

that may be too much to legally have in your possession

if it ever gets dropped off on your porch maybe you should check for a van delivering flowers nearby

if it is a group buy try to get ecerybody rouded up and break up the shipment immediatly on the porch

                            Funny timing for this topic.
A guy in Santa Cruz just caused the bomb squad to respond to a large amount of explosive powder being delivered to his house. It was for fireworks. But in any case, the shipper or powder supplier contacted the authorities to make sure the purchase quantity was compliant.

The limit we are talking about is the CA law limiting you to 20lbs of smokeless and 5lbs of black powder (before you need a license). Its part of the health and safety code

Health and Safety 12101 and 12102 to be exact... http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/ca...=12101&hits=20
