    .308 Reloads - Pretty Happy

    CG'ers,

    Went to Los Altos yesterday and tried out my first .308 reloads - pretty happy with the results. I was sighting in two new rifles, plus working on a buddies iron sights - and even up in Los Altos it was pretty hot yesterday, so I don't have tons of great pictures or even data from a chronograph - but the results all the same were good. After I was sighted in - was able to hit plastic bottles and cans on the 100 yd. plinking lanes with no problem - hitting bulls at 50 and 100 yds. too.

    Some of you may be wondering - so here are the recipes I shot yesterday:

    '#1'
    Brass: Remington/Winchester
    Primer: CCI #34
    Powder: Varget
    Bullet: 150 grain FMJ/BT Hornady
    Powder Grain Charge: 41.5 grains

    '#2'
    Brass: Winchester
    Primer: Remington 9 1/2
    Powder: Varget
    Bullet: 150 grain FMJ/BT
    Powder Grain Charge: 42.5 grains

    Both performed well. My bud told me my .223 reloads shot just as well as the factory ammo he brought - said he couldn't tell the difference. Told him that was the idea.

              All I shot yesterday were my reloads - and I think they are better than what I can buy.

                      Hah! Yes - even my wife has commented that she thinks I've shed a few pounds since I'm in the garage cranking reloads than sitting on the couch watching the boob-tube eating twinkies!

                      After you see how 'sweet' your loads are after reloading - you are hooked.

                      For those that are reading and haven't reloaded - you won't know this until you do it. It's kindof like computer programming or driving - you can take classes all day - but until you do it you don't get it.
