Reloading 22LR. Is this the new 9mm reloading debate?

So I decided to get all survivalist and take a shot at trying to reload .22LR ammo from scratch...

Pretty nuts but is this what the world is coming to?

22lr reloading will not become practical for quite a while.
It’s not a matter of cost either.
Now, if the supply dries up like it did a few years ago for a decade, then maybe.

Of if the Dim put a 30% tax, sure.
But taxing a banning reloading supplies will follow a gun, then ammo ban/licensing scheme.

I prepared for the ammo ID scheme by spending the two or so years before the law came into effect laying in .22 whenever they could find it.

Due to an accounting error on my part, instead of what I thought would be a lifetime's worth of .22, I have about 75% more than I planned to buy.

I am set but this subject is fascinating.

        I reload .22 all the time, .223, 220 Swift.
Rimfire, nah, I have about 30K rounds on hand so I'm good.

Pick up a levergun in .38/357 and use a light .38 Special load. Feels very similar to a .22LR. It's essentially the "reloadable .22".

If it gets to the point where we NEED to reload .22... we're in a WORLD of hurt...

By the time I need to resort to reloading 22 because I am out I figure I will have loved to be 200+ years old.

All things old become new again at some time. Here is my experience on reloading / loading 22LR.

Ever see the article from the guy who decided to reload primers? It worked out in the end, but not exactly economical.

LOL...... coincidentally, I was just shooting my "new to me" lever gun with my .38spl reloads. 3gr of bullseye with a 125gr bullet. Absolutely no recoil at all, and relatively minor report.

Regarding .22, after the last shortage, I stocked up, up, up..... I'll never run out.

^^ My own load is 3.9gr Bullseye with a 105gr cast bullet. Same thing. It's just sweet to fire.

Might try out your 125gr load and see how it goes. Thanks!

As for the stocking up...you did exactly the right thing.
