I got a group a little bigger than the first one you show with my AR and reloads. I was using 55gr V-Max bullets, 22.7gr Ramshot TAC and PPU Match brass. They were my first reloads and were loaded with the lowest charge Ramshot shows on their load data. I have more loaded that are hotter and I'm probably going to try out those today. I would personally go for the hotter loads but not max loads, I'm going to probably use 24.0-24.5gr of the max 25.2 since it's a semi-auto and I don't want to be too hard on it.

Just tested my previously stated reloads and the rifle shoots consistantly around .80" it's a bull barrel JT Distrubuting AR. The loads of 55gr V-Max with 24.0gr of TAC were noticably hotter and I don't think im gonna go any hotter than that.

50gr is a fairly short bullet, are you sure that mag length seating is taking advantage of the whole neck of the case?

            Are you crimping?

Do you have a chrono? If so, what's the BH pushing the 50gr at? Where are your loads in comparison?

Assmuing those are all 100yd groups, go try shooting some 200yd groups.
Maybe one load will stick out above the rest.
100yd groups really won't tell you everything there is to know about a load.

You can get away with more variance and not see it on target at 100yds.

You might also consider playing with the seating length.
Move it shorter in 0.025" steps and see if group sizes change.

There are SO many variables to try.
Ask around on varmint boards for people's pet loads with those bullets.
When you can get 10+ different opinions, there will often be one or two specific powders that jump out as the winner.

I would echo Hans Gruber's remarks and expand a little. With a short bullet like a 50 gr you might be better off with a shorter COL which will result on more neck grip on the bullet.

When you get a chrono, if you can get a velocity reading from the Black Hills ammo and load some of your own to match the velocity you may see an improvement in your group size since your rifle apparently like the Black Hills ammo.

Barrel harmonics and velocity are tied together. The reason we load different powder charges (and different corresponding velocities) is to find that certain velocity that coincides with your barrel's harmonics.

Finally, I would shoot a few groups of each load just to be sure that you have more solid data - the .3" BH group may have been a fluke.

Either way, nice shooting and nice groups.

                          Yo, good groups.

I would seat the bullets out as far as they can go and still fit in the magazine.
You're on the right track, less bullet jump the better the accuracy. Make sure
not to chase the max loadings without double checking pressure signs.
