    Anyone here reload .460?

Just picked up a .460 magnum at the local gun store. Seemed neat and it was shiny so I couldn't resist
Was wondering where I should look for bullets and brass. Doesn't seem to be too common. Appreciate any help I can get.

You can load .451 pills into a .460, but with the velocities that round can produce, plated and any but the better jacketed bullets are out. Most cost effective option would be a lead bullet in .452. .460 fires bullets that are the same diameter as the .45acp.

Because it's not a very common round to shoot, Midsouth, Brownells, PSA likely all carry the brass, but my guess is that bullets will be harder to find in stock right now because of the run/shortage of supplies for the common calibers.

I don't own the .460 s&w magnum, but it's on my list of guns to eventually get. I did a lot of research on it earlier this year before I started loading .460 Rowland.

Get some Starline brass. Dont shoot any bullets designed for a 45acp they will come apart. I dont use lead in mine. I suggest only using bullets designed for the 460 such as the Hornady Magnum because they have a thicker jacket. Its a fun round have fun.

Blah blah blah bullcrap. You can get bullets from a lot of places, Missouri bullet, Oregon trail, cast performance ECT ECT. As long as your getting the correct bhn you'll be fine. Cfe black and either imr4198 or h4198, you won't be able to get enough of these powders in the case to get into trouble with 325-400gr bullets. The bhn from these companies range from 18 to 22. With an 18bhn the bullet doesn't BEGIN to obturate untill your at 26,000psi and a 22bhn doesn't BEGIN untill 32,000psi. Some of these companies have 22bnh and a gas check. Read some of veral Smith's book jacketed performance with lead bullets sometime.

I used the Hornady 300 gr XTP mag bullets and for lighter loads I load 45 LC with a 250 gr lead projectile. You can also load the 45 LC to the hotter Ruger specs. For that I used the Hornady 250 gr XTP. I have tried Speer 300 gr Deep-curl but you can not push them that hard according to Speers web page. Enjoy.
I have done so much with so little for so long that now I can do almost anything with nothing at all.
