Do you have FFL-3 license ? C&R FFL license ? If you dont' what are those then:
Online ammo -> your local FFL -> you.
- Your online ammo vender will ship to your local FFL (you pay but they will ship to your FFL)
- When your local FFL receive the ammo they will notice you, so you can go to your local FFL to do the paper work and pay the all the fees.
You need to ask your local FFL will they take the online ammo purchase, and how much they charge for their service before place an order online. -
It's pretty much the same as buying a gun online. Pick your product, check out, and in the DELIVER TO section choose a FFL. Make sure the FFL will do ammo transfers & that you're familiar with their fees. When you pick up at the FFL you fill out some form. MAKE SURE YOU FILL IT OUT CORRECTLY & THAT IT MATCHES YOUR DRIVER LICENSE. People have been rejected for filling out Main St. instead of Main Street. If you have some sort of history of buying a gun then the state collects $1 for the abbreviated background check. If you're a first time gun owner or if you have a bunch of old stuff given to you from the 50s & there's no paper record (perfectly legal btw) then you pay $19 for the full deal. Plus whatever fee the shop charges of course. If you just bought your first gun last month, while technically you're a "first time gun owner", since CA already has a record of your DROS you would only pay $1 for the BG-lite. Fees for the shops I use are around $10-$30 per 1000 rounds, it may be higher in your area, it likely won't be much lower. Approval generally takes 5-15 minutes, and you can take your ammo home right away.
The ammo you buy does not have to match the caliber that you own; you can buy any caliber you want even if you don't have the gun for it.---------------------

Your biggest hang up will be paying the FFL their fee. I found a local guy that will do an ammo shipment for free. I send all my ammo to him. So just like the previous person mentioned, its much like gun transfers, except its exactly the same as buying in the store. Anyway, expect to pay at least 10% of the overall cost of your shipment to the FFL. Shop around. Big Box stores won’t do any such transfer because they sell their own ammo primarily. In my experience the smaller the FFL, the more likely you’ll find a good price. Search for FFL’s in your area. There is a strong chance that there are dozens of people you have never heard of with an FFL. Give them a call and see if they have the proper ammo licensing to accept ammo. Not every FFL is capable of this. Good luck!Comment
