    Military Brass Primer tool

I have a bunch of military brass that I can't reload because of that primer crimp. Is this the tool I need to take out the crimp?

I've got both. The Dillon is nice but, it needs to be adjusted for each different headstamp. The reamer is a lot cheaper and you can put it in a drillpress at low speed and go to town. Reaming will leave brass shaving and swaging will not. If you are concerned about removing a little metal (a common arguement against reaming), don't be! Everyone I know who loads 50BMGs reams the primer crimp out and no one has any problems with primers staying seated so, your little rounds will be fine if you chose to ream.

          how much is a 'bunch'.
do you expect to do much more in the future.
what sort of press equipment do you have, what is the needed volume.

search for topics on reamers or swages. Been done to death.

I started off small with a reamer you used with your fingertips. That got old in a hurry. Then the tool with a handle, likewise a chore. Would up with a Dillon swage, which can do everything and do it easily, without the hand cramps or out of round primer pockets.

Today I just did my first .223 workup using LC brass that I needed to remove crimps from.

I used the bit from a Lyman hand reamer bit chucked into a drill to clear out the crimps. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=643126

I was concerned that maybe I removed too much material because my wolf SRM primers went in with next to no effort. They all fired perfectly today though. Bit + drill = not too bad.

I have 500 rounds of 7.62. My wrist already hurts looking at the hand operated ones.

Reread my post. You can put the cutting head in a drillpress or even a cordless drill!

Thanks. Too bad they're out of stock. Good thing I have some commercial brass to work with for now.

It's a long drive but, if you run out of brass need to use the crimped stuff, come on up and use both to see which one you like best.

Thanks for the offer, but I dont shoot that often so the commercial stuff should last me quite a while.

I love the Dillon swager. Easy to switch from large to small primers. Picked mine up from Sugarfree Bob at the last Ontario show. Didn't notice if he had any this weekend.

I have the RCBS pocket swager. It works well. Just have to beware of pinching your fingers w/ the Rockchucker!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I have both and I find the rcbs unit takes more force to operate and I can use the dillon one in front of my tv easily.
