    Labeling

    Hey all

Wondering how do u label / keep track of your dies. Aside from keeping them in the original case. Most come in boxes but some of my dies are loose ones that I bought here and there.

    TIA

I use a craftsman 9 drawer small parts bin that I got from Lowe's for around $10. My wife also has a lable maker that I used to label each drawer. It's also stackable so you can collect even more junk.

Buy boxes from the dies' manufacturer. (Or put up a "WTB" ad.)

        Label accordingly.

I put most on Dillon toolheads and label the dies and the powder type/throw on the dispenser. I got a cheap Dymo label maker for about $10 delivered, I use the heck out of that.

I label my 650 XL toolheads and store the toolheads with dies that never move... 2/6 of my toolheads are after market, and color coded...

AND I have toolhead stands on the back of the bench...

They currently sell about the same price as Dillon's, but used to be half the price, when I got them... as I recall.

I don't label my dies to ID them. Sets stay largely in the die boxes they came in. They're labelled to be easier to read (see below.)

I do label dies with other info - bushing size on neck dies, micrometer settings for different bullets at touch, that sort of thing. I use a Brother label maker and trim the labels down to save real estate.

The die boxes get labelled as well so I don't have to try and read the paper labels on the boxes. Big font, with good contrasting color selection. My eyes aren't what they used to be (not that they were ever all that good.)

Have a couple (flat point gold for, xtp, round nose) etc.
They come in a bag but no markings on them.

I use a Lee Classic Turret press, over time most of my dies have ended up on a specific tool head and just stayed there.

Now a lot of them live on the tool head stored in repurposed cottage cheese or yogurt containers labeled and stacked in the reloading cabinet.

dies stay in the original boxes. or on the toolhead. my 650 toolheads have the caliber machined into them. no labels too fall off.

most things are etched with a part and caliber from the factory. good enough for me

I just use the box that the dies came in and turn the stamping on the sizing die up so I can see it. Works for me pretty well.

I use a small hand held engraver to mark tool heads , shell holders , dies etc . I already had the engraver to label work tools for when on job sites with multiple contractors working at the same time .
