I have a 650. When resetting the powder drop for a new cartridge, I do this.

Fill the hopper at least 1/2 full. Raise the platform up, with a small paper cup (Dixie cup) under the funnel. I then hand-jack the powder bar 10 times. Empty the cup. Jack it 10 more times, & measure on the electronic scale. Now divide the powder weight by 10 to get your average drop weight.

Adjust the powder bar & repeat the process. Repeat process till you are averaging the weight you are looking for.

I have found this gives me the most consistant powder drops when reloading.

& empty that hopper when you are done for the day!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I guess being a new reloader I am being overly cautious.I will average my charges from now on, trying to weigh each charge is a pain. I really appreciate the help everyone has given me

you weigh each charge on a 650?
just get it dialed in and check it every couple hundred rds.
Or do the match stuff on a single stage.
And yes.1 is plenty close especially for pistol.

I was weighing a lot of them at first because I wasn't sure that everything was working as it was supposed to be.

One last question I have is do you just set the bullet on the case and pull the handle or do you hold on to it as long as possible?

you might also try cleaning your funnel with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

Sounds like you found the biggest problem which is the travel of the white block on the side of the measure.

If you bell the mouth of the case properly, you wont have to hold on to the bullet any longer than it takes to place it, unless you are going so fast you are rocking the whole machine, but that would not be wise.
