How empty are free-state ammo shelves?

Traveling to a free state soon, and I COULD buy and ship to an FFL here for pickup.

Just wondering how the free-state ammo shelves look?

The city I will be going to has like 10-12 gun shops in like a <4 mile area,
    AND they're open...

Might be time to stock-up on AntiFA repellent.

They may be open but I wouldn't figure on buying a bunch of 9mm, .45acp, .223/5.56, rimfire, or any one of a dozen more off the shelf. But good luck and enjoy your drive.

Good luck on the search man. Hope you find something in whatever part of town you're going to. I was at a shop in Vegas the other day. The entire wall was bare, every display case was empty besides 4 tiny handguns and maybe 5 knives. For ammo they had a couple boxes of 22wmr and what I think was 17hmr.

I asked another customer about some other shops and he said the couple other shops within 1/2 mile are empty as well.

I haven't tried the big shops yet there's still Walmart, Bass Pro, and Sportsman's Warehouse I need to go to. I'm looking for components and not ammo....now that I think about it components are looking to be more scarce than ammo haaha. Good luck!

We have sporadic 9mm. 5.56 is slightly more available, but still hard to find.
          22 is still around.

In suburban Ft Worth, shelves are pretty barren. The three Academy stores in my area, which usually have an entire aisle or two dedicated to ammo, have been picked clean and prices for what they do have are astronomical. Haven't been to my LGS lately, I don't buy ammo there anyway.

Have a friend who was in south central Kentucky for the last 10 days. He said most stores there are thin, too. Cousins in Michigan are reporting the same.

My brother up in Idaho says shops are pretty bare around him as well.

'rabout 6 months from now there are going to be some great deals on ammunition.

Rioting and looting aren't an issue up here. Every time I hear a siren I look outside for smoke. What keeps me up at night is a FIRE!!!

VERY. Here's a writeup I did on a local board, regarding a large, local chain store, in the suburbs of Pittsburgh there other day.

Found some sad pickin's at Dunham's in West Mifflin this afternoon.

NOT being a hunter, so I don't know, there must be SOME sorta hunting season about to start. One ol' boy was getting a hunting license - several others, were picking up shells from their rather PLENTIFUL shotgun ammo selection.

They had a nominal selection selection of rifle ammo - even some .308. But DON'T go looking for .223/5.56. They had ONE box of Hornady 50gr. V-Max (@ $25!), and about 200rds. of Tula. I wouldn't THROW that stuff at the enemy, much less shoot it - I didn't look at the price.

They did have two .50 ammo cans with 820rds. of M855 each in them. HOLD onto your hat - for ONLY... $499!

I picked up an Amend 30rd. mag (never tried one - threw it in my range can), and some Magpul followers, as I'm anticipating getting a few questionable mags shortly - MORE range mags.

Handgun ammo was ALMOST all gone (maybe a dozen boxes - of ANY caliber! ). They had a LONE 1911 in .45 on the shelf - a Commander-sized Kimber in 9mm, and three other little .380 pocket Kimbers. They had some BIG .44 Magnum revolvers... and that was that. They had a couple of long guns - hunting-type rifles basically. Nice guy behind the counter noted, the last truck that came in, had NO guns whatsoever on-board - first time in his 3 years there THAT'S ever happened. He also said, that while their website says they HAVE certain ammo and guns in-stock, they actually DON'T - in ANY of their stores!

AGAIN... if you can FIND something you need in your local store; GRAB IT... while the grabbin's GOOD!

I can still get most powders and some bullets but not always exactly what I want for reloading. Brass is in good supply to not necessarily here in my part of ID but up MT. I sold some Retumbo that I had no need for and some other things like Hornady ELD X bullets in 6.5 and a bunch of ammo. I'll take some more up in a few days to dispose of when the wife gets home from Calif. I need to pick up a license, conservation stamp and maybe state lands permit before I decide if I'm going to hunt or fish there. October can be really good for 5-12 or so pound trout near Dillon. Maybe I'll be there when more Californians come into the store to buy ammo and magazines, there always twitchy/nervous about it.Kinda fun to watch. Used to be a lot at the 3 Bears up Butte lots of all of it, maybe next trip I will have time to go look see. OP if you do go that far be sure to check the hardware stores, lots of those sell guns ammo and reloading as well as assorted things that might interest you.

I was talking to several people over the last 2 weeks and they all tell me the same thing, this isn't going to get better for up to 2 years and maybe more. It could even get worse if Biden wins or the Dems get more control in the Congress. Some of what I'm getting rid of is the IMI green tip ammo, almost a full case of 1,200 rounds. My FN AR likes LC much better. I hope they are wrong but over the last 12-14 years most of those same people were pretty close to dead on. Have a nice day

Sportsman's in Reno pretty well wiped out on all popular stuff this morning.

Me too, (except for the nasty work thing you mentioned).

I've honestly only checked Walmart for giggle. Pretty much small caliber and hunting ammo. Not much in stock. A few shotguns and rifles though. So that made me smile a little.
