Nice. Getting actual lead weights (fishing or tire varieties) is damn near impossible these days, but God bless those who manage to keep their smelters fed!

What brand is that black powder coating? I've tried two so far and haven't been able to get good coverage like that.Ronald Reagan once said that the most terrifying words in the English language are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".

Cleaning out my shed to move I found an old wooden ammo box with 100+ lbs of misc lead - linotype, spent bullets, wheel weights, etc.
I sold off my casting stuff a couple years ago. So with perfect 20/20 hindsight I went to Midway.com and ordered a couple Lee molds, dipper and bottom of the line furnace. It may become real useful in the future world the left has planned for us.Comment

That's the way to do it, recycle and reuse. I do the same thing. Before I leave a shooting area(several in my neck of the woods), I'll collect as many "missed" clays as I can and place them along the backstops to encourage more lead deposit. Next time out, I sift through those areas to collect all the lead. Last time I was too tired to pick out the lead so I just filled one 5 gallon bucket with the sifted material and tossed it in the back of my truck for later. The next day I picked out the lead (took about an hour) and ended up with 15 pounds of ingots after removing all the copper jackets and dirt. It's like money in the bank.Comment

Good work, OP! Those Lee 6-cavity moulds are very good for turning out a lot of cast bullets in a relatively short amount of time. I use liquid Alox for my bullet lube, but the powder coating seems to be getting ever more popular. It may be necessary for legal reasons if the CA government officials get their way."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

Very nice. I have that same 6 cavity mold along with 6 cavity molds for 9mm, 40, 45 along with a couple 6 cavity rifle molds. Been casting for 15+ years but only started powder coating about a year ago with the same shake 'n bake method using powder from Smoke over at castboolits.
So how do you like your PID? I've been thinking of upgrading my setup with a PID but really don't know much about them.Comment
