    Reloading for the .40SW cartridge?

    Okay, so I've read up alot on rifle reloading, and reloading in general. I haven't started yet due to components being scarce. However, I'm wondering some specifics of the .40SW round as compared to the general rifle rounds. Things like not having to lube the casings because there is no neck, etc;

-Does the .40SW round use large pistol or small pistol primers?
-What is the powder most often used for factory made ammunition (I ask because I would like to duplicate it)

    Thanks

Uses small pistol primers and Winchester uses Action Pistol in their .40S&W factory loads I believe.

      I reload about 1k .40 S&W pistol rounds a week..

They all use small pistol primers
      I use 165 grain bullets
I uses Viht powder 4.8 grains (middle velocity range) 950 Velocity

What Manual are you using (?) I love my Sierra manual it gives you about 20 different powders to choose from and velocity ranges from low (850) to the max recommended @ (1150)

Also what grain bullet are you using 165, 180, ??

I don't have the components for .40SW as of yet, just .308; I'm just trying to figure out what I should use to duplicate factory loads though. I have the Speer Reloading manual that came with my rcbs rock chucker kit.

I reload 40 cal as follows

          180 grn lead tcfp
          5.0 grains of W-231
          Federal magnum primers

Works great and feeds with no issues in everything I own.

I would love to know the specs on Blazzer Brass ammo though.

A lot of shooters use Titegroup.
            IDPA and USPSA.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting
