Get the "master" models, with the remote display..... so that u read the display easily, and can scroll back as well as reset the unit without having to walk out pass the firing line....

I just got the ProChrono Digital from Midway last week and used it the first time on Sunday.

Worked like a champ, even on a sketchy cheapo camera tripod. Was $94 or so and you can get an optional remote. I didn't need it, I just wrote down my #'s as I went. Worked well even in the morning offset sun. Could easily read the display from 20ft away.

is this an indoor or outdoor one?? I was told that for indoor shooting I'll need one that has it's on light source??

Ive got the Shooting Chrony Gamma Master with the printer package, it works well and I have to say, I thought the printer was going to be too much but it is so nice not to have to write anything down! I just shoot, and when Im done I press the stats button and it does all the work for me.

Yah that's the one that I got. It's an outdoor model that'll work in some indoor lighting conditions but I don't know how reliable that is. They do sell an indoor kit that's essentially two fluorescent tube lights that replace the diffusers for more reliable indoor use so that should tell you something.

They also sell a printer and a PC interface kit. It's funny, half of the instruction manual is a sales pitch for add-ons

You might want to check out this website. I think they're on sale.

I have used a borrowed ShootingChrony Beta and it works good. I would have preferred the Beta Master with the remote panel as I was not that familiar with the unit and would have liked to been able to review what I had without having to wait for a cease fire. I would recommend testing and learning how to use it using a BB gun at home - that's what I did and it really helped to have all of the funky button push patterns down before using it at the range.

Right now Midway seems to have the Beta's for the same price as the Alpha's, both the regular and the master (master is only $15 more.) The Beta holds 6 strings of 10 shots, the Alpha only holds one string of up to 32 shots.

According to the instructions, these require an accessory light for use indoors.

Wait a little, save some more and get a CED M2, you won't regret it.

BTW, if you want to use a chrono indoors it won't work under fluorescent lighting.

I have a Shooting Chrony F1 model (very basic version) that has been working fine for over 10 years.

I can't see any reason (for the average shooter) to spend more than what the different Shooting Chrony models offer. Best values out there.

I bought the Alpha Master unit from Midway 2 months ago and have had it to the range half a dozen times. Works great for around $100.
