Finicky ammo reloading for the M1 Garand

So a family member asked me to load up some ammo lately and I finally got around to it today. Doing some reading about the 30-06 I learned of the touchy pressure levels people warn when it comes to ammo for the Garand.

I started with a couple twenty counts and stuck with obvious data. 150 gr Hornady FMJBT and 45 gr Varget then 46 gr IMR 4895. Maybe a little hot but within specs.

The final twenty came as a request for something to hunt with. Well, the only decent pill I have for it are 125 gr SST spire points and I tried to cross data with other stuff to make it work. Hodgdon says a Sierra 125 gr in 30-06 can start at 53 gr so...nah, too much. I'm gonna drop it way down to say...oh, 44 gr. Sketchy math gets me thinking that'll drop to the 2700 fps level. Safe enough. Ran short of H4895 and Varget after the prior 40 so...BL-C.

More reading just to be sure and...hmm. Lots of guys say anything lighter then 168 gr is just too dangerous in 30-06 for the Garand when it comes to BL-C(2). Gonna risk bending a rod.

Twenty rounds are already done and it can either 1) Go to the Grand or 2) Save it for the old bolt gun.

    Thoughts?

Anyway...here's a dearth of reasoning to ponder: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Guns

150gr bullet and 47gr of IMR4895 will work just fine and is a very old and tested combo.
You could load Nosler PAR for hunting or a Hornady/Speer or whatever soft point bullet
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
