    Testing Barnaul 7.62x39 on a SAM7R

Finally got out to test some Barnaul ammo I was able to procure during Freedom Day. The ammo was hitting 3 inches above Wolf at the 100 meters. My Caldwell chrono was wonky today, but I believe the Barnaul ammo to be 200-300 fps faster than Wolf Poly.

I'm pretty happy with it. It the same price as Wolf, and is meaningfully more accurate. The group below were shot with a SAM7R rifle at 100 meters with a Sig Romeo 5S 1x red dot. If I had a scope with magnification, I am sure I could shoot better groups.

Aiming for the center of the head, the 2 MOA was covering most of it

I can barely see the diamond target over the dot really

my best for the day after I settled on the zero. It kinda suck zero-ing red dots at 100 meters. Maybe I am doing this wrong.

I couldnt hit anything over 300 yards with the red dot. I was able to hit 500 and 600 reliably with irons after wind was compensated.

    Weird question:

Steel case. Is Barnaul Lead Core or bi-metal? I like the price, it looks like Steel case/bi-metal but I saw somewhere that it's a standard range and barrel friendly Lead core FMJ?

How is your red dot mounted? Side rail, or gas block?
