    Reload Newb Help

    Hey everyone!

Just wanted to see if there are any website recommendations for 223/556 rounds along with 9mm rounds. Also does this reduce the cost overall or is it more so you can have your own custom load preferences? Trying to practice more frequently but wanted to find ways to cut cost without having to recondition by used casings. Thanks go the help!

I reload for other calibers, for 9mm I buy factory stuff. Nothing wrong with reloading 9mm, but less reason to.

Agreed. I reload but not for 9mm and .223/5.56.

        Only load 45acp, 45L.C., 45auto rim, 38/357.

Ive got 9mm to below 10 cents a round using range pick ups. I use jacketed FMJs from a trusted source.

The recipe is 5 grains for WSF powder (1.5 cents a round) and Sellier Belliot primers I bought when they were like 1-1.5 cents each.

I shoot and reload 9mm and 223 mainly because the cases are easy to come by.

I shoot 357, 380 and 22lr which I dont shoot a lot of so I dont reload them.

as above you can save money BUT you do have to invest in machine, dies, scale, tumbler etc.

But then you will shoot so much more and get real good at it and still spend same amount of money but yeah shoot more for same amount is a win.

True. I reload 600-800 at a time, and will have couple of thou ready to use. Ammo is never the issue when I stop shooting

Although at this point, I'm cool with 2-300 a session. Once I am warmed up and get to my time, I just need to do it a few times and I'm done.

                You can save money

                I load plated .45ACP for about $9/100

but there's a lot of equipment cost to recover.

It's generally pretty safe to buy used equipment especially if you are handy.

often times, you can find used press bundled with extras at a fraction of their cost.

Very true, I upgraded from a Dillon 550 to a 650 with two tool heads, case feeder and dies for what I sold the 550 for plus 1 hundo. It was a buddy deal.

All that crap adds up quick.

Best deals are garage sales and CL, especially if there's a bunch of dies and powder and primers and bullets and various other stuff included.

Opened containers of powder, you'll want to be real careful with and have someone seasoned look at but as for things like projectiles and dies you don't use, horse trading is a cheep way to get what you want and meet other reloaders.

Look at the top of this forum; there are a number of "stickeys" about reloading

Otherwise, I prefer to look at manufacturers websites, or books. Speer, Sierra, Lyman etc. I tend not to trust unknown reloading sources.

it's nice to have at least two books as reference. Even within the reloading books there is variations manufacturer to manufacturer.

                          Both.

I can make match type ammo for less than factory match.
My rifle rounds shoot more accurate than factory ammo.
And, I like the whole process of reloading
