Thanks, I just ordered 4227 2lb to try. It's probably going to take forever to ship. I wish we had more stores to purchase reloading supplies near San Francisco.

      Welcome to CalGuns.

      1. Typing in all capitals is frowned upon.

      2. I am not sure what question you are asking... You want ar15barrels to run a particular QuickLOAD simulation for you?

Please be aware that while QuickLOAD is a great piece of software, and I use it myself, but the data generated from it is not equivalent to published load data from a reloading manual or component manufacturer.

Use QuickLOAD data at your own risk, and perform a sanity check on the input parameters before trusting the output results. It's a computer program: Garbage in = garbage out.

One of the biggest takeaways that I got from QuickLOAD is how much seating depth affects max chamber pressure. So keep an eye on the exact model bullet and cartridge OAL that the QuickLOAD simulation is using, versus what you will actually be loading. Just because the simulation is using the same bullet weight, for example a 6.5mm 140 grain bullet can be as short as 1.310" (Sierra Matchking) to as long as 1.420" (Nosler RDF)

With a longer barrel, Lil Gun can also be a good choice.

Barnes makes a 110gr. TTSX in .30cal that you might get close to 2400fps in a bolt gun. At 200 yards or less that should be plenty for an average hog.

In your powder comparison, did you also try Hodgdon CFE BLK? If so, how did it compare to Alliant 300-MP?

Where quickload really shines is when you can get the model to match your gun with ALL factors accounted for.
When you have the case capacity, barrel length and temperature accounted for and you are matching velocity between the model and the actual chrono results, there is a real good chance that your pressures are correct.

But short of that, it's great for comparison of factors and picking a powder to try but you still have to work up loads just like you would if you were getting data out of a load manual.

CFE-BLK really shines with heavy subs. It produces a large amount of gas. Good for semi-auto cycling and muzzle brakes. I have gone thru over 8 lbs this last year. This powder is very close to Accurate 1680 in performance. Even in pistol or SBR configurations, works well.

300-MP shines in the lighter bullet range. I have never seen factory loading for heavy subs and 300-MP powder.

Side note CFE-BLK works very good in the 500 S&W too. Great for the muzzle brake on the pistol.

I also use CFE-BLK in 7.62x39 ammo. Works very well here too.

Finally go my order. Instead of 4227 they shipped IMR Target. Can I use it for 300 BLK?

                    No.
That is a very fast powder, similar to Bullseye.
One of the best powders for 300 Blk is H110, which is very slow like 4227.
Save the IMR Target for 45acp or 38 Special.

Thank you, I am not reloading handgun ammo. Just posted for sale.
                      Thanks

                        Syntax error.
                        Does not compute.

Handgun ammo is far easier to reload than rifle ammo.
