dirty AR after shooting ?

I was told today that Winchester [ 748 ] powder is why my AR gets so dirty shooting it. Even the outside of the cases get dark after shooting it ? I like the performance and it loads nice.It is a gas impediment system.
Are some brands cleaner shooting than others ?

I have never noticed 748 being more dirty than the other powders I have used. I am not an AR expert but I would look at something other than the powder.

Does it get dirty with other powders?

Direct gas impingement rifles are dirty guns. Having the brass come out almost like it's covered in soot and grimy is perfectly normal. If the powder shoots and your rifle functions reliably, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're against regular cleaning, consider a piston conversion kit to keep your BCG, chamber, and by proxy, brass cleaner.

Are you satisified with the performance of the ammo you loaded? Does it shoot acceptable groups? If so I wouldn't worry about how dirty the gun gets. Easier to clean the gun than to find a powder and bullet combo that shoots well IMHO.

Thank you all, glad i can stay with the 748. I clean my guns within one day of shooting.I do a very detailed cleaning.Wash with eds red formula. Blow out with rags and compressed air. Oil all metal moving parts.
As much as i like my AR cleaning my Savage bolt action in 223 is a snap.My 350 dollar Savage axis with a nikon scope will just about out shoot any AR at 100 yards.

Usually ball powders like 748 burns cleaner with magnum primer. Reduce your load and watch for pressure signs. Or crimp a little. Best with cannelured bullets.

I have not been crimping. So many steps to reloading 223 as it is.I clean every primer pocket and size the length.
