    Hornady Projector Press Question

My step father recently gave me some old reloading stuff that someone gave him.

Included amoung other things was a Hornady Projector Press. It had some rust on a few spots so I took it all apart, knocked the rust off, gave it a nice coat of paint to keep it rust free.

While I was putting it back together and inventorying all the parts I noticed that there were no primer tubes.

I tried to see if Hornady had them but they said they no longer carried them since the press is so old.

I have seen some other tubular style primer tubes for other presses that look similar.

My questions does anyone have a Hornady Projector press and have you used other tubes with it. Or does anyone know where I can get some tubes for the press.

good luck! I've heard that is the hardest part to find. Better off making your own.

I have a projector and another on the way, so I may have to make more also.

The RCBS primer tubes can be adapted to work in the projector. If you go to the "Cast Boolits" forums and scroll down to the "reloading equipment" board, then search "Pro-Jector" you should find a couple of threads. One deals with the primer tube issue, the longer thread with pictures deals with some mods that will make the projector much more reliable. I have one of these dedicated to .45 acp that I've loaded over 75,000 rounds on, and I bought it used. The Projector is a strong and reliable press. Once "tuned up" they will reliably load at a rate comparable to a Dillon 650.

          Linky:

          Cast Boolits forum

I'm a member over there as well and have asked some questions on the Projector. I've made the mods that are suggested and they work great.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. The press looks solid and who can pass up free these days right.
