Try screwing the die down another 0.001" or 0.002" for your next test batch and see if the problem goes away.
My trick for knowing how far you are turning a die goes as follows:
Cut a trip of masking tape around 3" long.
Lay a mm ruler next to it and make marks on the tape for every mm.
The fancy version is to buy or print out an adhesive backed mm scale.
Wrap the scale around the 7/8" threads of the die just above the lock nut.
Make a pencil or sharpie mark on the lock nut that points to one of the mm marks.
In use, you count the mm marks that go past the mark on the nut as you are adjusting the die.
Each 1mm mark gives you about 0.001" of die movement.
Depending on your tape thickness, this method is within about 0.002" over a full rotation but you don't need to worry about additive error when you are only looking to make single digit corrections.
