Guys with Lee Breech lock pro

Hey all, I'm looking to upgrade from a classic turret to a loadmaster, what do you guys think about them? I'm not willing to do the whole dillon thing just yet so no blue for now.
Seems like youtube vids are mostly good but reviews online are down the middle. Would you buy again? Do you like it? Hate it?

    Edit - bought the BLP

I picked one up to upgrade from my turretAs well. Had issues with primers flipping upside down, and powder drop not charging. Squib’d a barrel during a shoot house exercise. Didn’t realize it had squib’d next round blew the barrel. Got rid of it and went back to my trusty turret. I now have a Dillon SDB for 9mm and use the turret for all other calibers.

The priming is a little finicky, but they work. Best value in progressives.

I had one for about 10k rounds. It was ok, and very much sped up my loading of 9mm and 40. But got sick of the finicky pain in the rear stuff that happens with them and sold it for 20 bucks less than I paid for it and bought a Dillon with all the fixins. It's worth it.

They need allot of tinkering... priming is hit or miss, index is rough.
IMHO stick with the turret until you are ready for the 550 or 750 the loadmast will just piss you off and leave you that way.
It was my first progressive and of o could do it all over again I wish I had never touched that thing.

I know this thread is about the Load Master but what about the new Lee Pro 4000 , I think its also called the Auto Breach Lock Pro.
It seems to be the next step in the Lee line from there Turret Press and the reviews I have seen are mostly positive accept some do not care for the Auto Primer setup.
I am looking at this press as an upgrade from my classic turret even if I have to manually prime off press. I actually have no problems with the auto prime on my Lee Classic Turret so I do not see it as being a big problem for me.
I like the Dillon 550 presses but want an auto indexing press and the 650/750 Dillon's are out of my price range for the amount of reloading I do.

Hope this is not a thread jack for the OP but I think it might be another option to look at.

I just checked out the pro4k and I like it. I had a Loadmaster about 10 years ago. I spent many days tweaking and making Magic Mike Mods and fabricating my own parts and couldn't get it to work. I also had 3 pro1k's and they all were awesome. I still have one or two pro1k's and will still bolt one down to squish some ammo once in a while. I have Dillons, Lyman, RCBS, Redding, Forster, and PW in my collection as well.

So back to the topic, I didn't have a good time with the Loadmaster and although I know people that use it successfully I would go another route. The pro4k looks pretty interesting. Let us know what you get!

I have a loadmaster. Like others, it was very finicky and I finally just used it as a turret press that could size and bell brass or seat and crimp loads.

I bought the newest Lee progressive press two years ago, but it's still sitting in the box. Haven't had time to set it up and is it yet

Thanks, what are the differences between the 1000 and 4000? They both seemed to be priced very well.

The functional difference is that the P1000 offers 3 die stations while the ABLP has 4 die stations.

The ABLP is built on the newest chassis and has the ram directly under the resizing station to limit shell plate tilt

I should be able to use the dies on my lee turret on the 4000 right? I'd just need the press and the shell plates? Considering this one.

Yup. The ABLP requires that one of your dies be in a Breech Lock bushing, but that comes with the press

I think one of the positives for the Pro 4000 is that if you have already invested in an auto drum powder measure and and auto primer setup for your Lee Turret press you can use them on the new pro 4000. All your dies and stuff are interchangeable.
On the other hand you do need to invest in more breach locks and remove your dies from the turrets.
I do not think the Pro 4000 is the end all be all it is just a fairly low cost entry into a mostly progressive press. It is no replacement for a Dillon 750 or maybe not even the 550 but it seems to be a serviceable progressive press for those on a tight budget.
