I was going to buy a bullet puller to have laying around. Should I get a Lyman Inertia Bullet Puller or Frankford Arsenal Impact Bullet Puller or Hornady Impact bullet puller??

I recently bought an RCBS Collet Puller like 5Hundo linked, but haven't had a need to use it yet. It looks quite simple to set up and I expect it will become my "go to" puller.
Realize that you need to buy the body for ~$20 and collets for each caliber you'll be pulling at ~$12/each. I've got mine in one of the holes of my turret press (I reload on a progressive and use the TP for single stage operations like bullet pulling, case decap and cast bullet sizing), so it's quick for me to set up, but most people need to thread this into their press to use it.
If you're on a budget or only expect to pull one on rare occasions, I'll note that I've used the RCBS and FA impact pullers on many different types of ammo and never had a problem getting the job done (sometimes it take a few whacks on a board to pull and it can get loud).
If pulling more than 3-5 bullets in a row, the collet style is the way to go. On the other hand, impact pullers work very well for many people.

Oh course it depends on what calibers you're making. I use an inertial puller for .223 and .308 and any one of the many ones out there from Lyman, RCBS, etc will be fine. For larger calibers I use press mounted pullers. The RCBS collet puller is good for a lot of intermediate calibers like .338 Lapua Magnum. For larger I have the big 1.5" CH4D collet puller that handles .408 Cheytac and .50BMG.--BrandoComment

I have both kenetic and collet pulers... I use them depending on the bullet being pulled...'Just Don't Point, Squint, and Laugh! '

I've got an RCBS kinetic puller that I thought was fine until I got a Lyman collet puller. Get a collet puller, particularly if you need to pull down more than just a few rounds. It isn't as messy, either.Comment

has anybody ever made a kinetic one
i'm thinking of trying to make a hammer out of some pipe a T fitting for the handle and a cap for the impact end but i'm wondering how i should go about shell holding i figure on a shellholder and some washers and another capComment

I have the RCBS Smack 'em style and the Hornady collet for rifle (bottle neck).

Considering how inexpensive a dillon or RCBS kinetic hammer is, why would anyone bother. The key is the collet that fits under the cartridge rim. Where are you going to get that / make it from?Comment
