    223 issue

Had my 650 for a solid decade now and have mainly been loading handgun over the years.Had everything for rifle but been busy and mainly practicing my handgun drills. So i have some brass in a container i got from an old friend,i decapped and ran through the machine.they didnt need trimming as they are short,1.670 short.i notice after bullet leaves station 3 to 4,the bullet is still wobbly but seated to correct height.its not every piece, but quite a few so far.had one fall straight back inside. Is this an issue related to brass being too short?what im i doing wrong?

Likely an issue of the brass not being resized. If the O/D of the neck on the brass measures .250" +, the brass hasn't been resized. Properly sized brass necks will measure in the .246" area.

If a bullet drops into the neck, it hasn't been resized.

More to the point, how could you have loaded for a decade and not realized what the problem was as soon as it occurred?

If you've only been reloading straight wall pistol ammo you may need to read about the different types of sizing dies for necked rifle ammo and decide which is best for what you're reloading for. For an AR15 223 match grade barrel with a tight tolerance chamber you don't want to use a neck size die as the resultant ammo may fail to go into battery or hard to extract.

Maybe mis read the calipers, Dyslexic ? I find myself mis reading numbers at times. Odd that the case length would be 1.670".

Don't know, O/P hasn't come back to give an update on mechanical or operator error.

Yeah, maybe realized there was a multi-issue problem and decided to re-check everything from top to bottom.
