    Dillon Case counter C-100: Questions

I have a brand new Dillon Case counter, C-100 that I ordered with my 650 in 1994 and which I've never used. I wanted to hook it up but can not find the instuctions. Called Dillon and they are mailing me a copy of the instuctions. I was told they stopped making them about 10 years ago. When I questioned why I kind of got the impression that they might not have worked real well because they were not installed properly on the press.

In any case I can not see how it could work with the Dillon factory crimp die. Anyone using the counter with 650 set up and Dillon dies?

It will not work with a factory crimp die. In fact it will not work with newer Dillon dies, the hole in the crimp die is to small for the round and nut to fit.

There where at least two versions of the counter made. One of them has a sheet metal mount that gos between the toolhead and the die. The second type kinda clips onto the die.
I have the counters on 3 or 4 of my tool heads they work well.

Mine is in the photo below. This model will not work at all with the new Dillon dies?

If it can not be made to work with my dies then would you be interested in buying it at a reasonalbe price. It was purchase in 1994; has never been used and is as new.

        What cartridge are you loading.
I have the same counter as you on most of my pistol die shellplates.
Remove the top half of the counter mount from the bottom half with the single screw in the middle.
You install the bottom half of the mount under the DILLON crimp die's lock ring.
Then you drop the counter's rod down inside the crimp die before installing the top half of the mount with the single screw.
You have to remove and re-install each time to get it adjusted.
Once it's set, just leave it on that toolhead.

Right now on the 650 only 9 mm and 223.

When the rod goes into the top of the crimp die does the top of the bullet activate the counter by pushing the rod up? If so does the threaded rod contacting the top of the bullet cause any ill effects?

            Yes.
            No.

That counter works for 9mm, but I think a special rod would be needed for 223 as that one won't fit in a 223 crimp die.

Why do you need a counter? just keep track of how many packs of primers you go through, thats what I do.

I use a touch of blue Locktite on the threaded rod and no nut for using a counter on my 650 for 223.
