    RCBS Rockchucker Ball Diameter?

I know that this is an odd question but could someone measure the diameter of the black ball at the end of your RCBS Rockchucker Press?

I have an older model with the shagadelic green handle instead of the ball and I would like to retrofit it with a ball.

I contacted RCBS and the will sell me one for $35 (New handle with ball), but the shipping would be an additional $38. That seems like a lot just to have a new handle with a knob. I don't fault them I am just cheap.

I looked online and I can get tool handle knobs from 1" to 3" for a few bucks. So my thought is that I will buy one and thread the end of my shaft to accept it. But I don't know the diameter it should be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

1 7/8"----1.875" Same size knob on my Rock Chucker and Big Max presses. Must be a standard size.

I had an old pool table ball and installed it. That little RCBS ball is kind of small. You'll need a 3/4" drill bit, the green "bicycle handle" isn't threaded.

Didn't check the threads. McMaster-Carr has a lot of "ball handles" cheap.

I put billiard balls on all my press handles. Needed to drill and tap the balls....but all the handles are already threaded.

Thanks for the replies I really appreciate it.

I think that I will start with the 1 7/8ths ball and see how that works.

McMaster is where I planned on getting it. They are my go to for this type of stuff.

Thanks again for the help guys!

I bought a 1 7/8 ball with a 1/2-13 threaded brass insert on ebay. Chucked the handle in my lathe and threaded it. It is now much more comfortable in use.

I got a roller handle for my Dillon. More comfortable than a ball.

You probably don’t need 10, but here are some nice wooden balls.

Just drill hole and coat ball in Tried & True Danish oil or something similar.

You can also get smaller balls, and egg shaped pieces.

I have a roller handle on one of my presses. I prefer an oversized ball, so I outfitted all my presses with drilled and tapped billiard balls - fits my hand better.

                          Different strokes..... (no pun intended!!)
