    Mixing Powder

Can you mix the same powder from different lots? For example I have just a little Accurate 2230 left but I want to add the new can to the powder hopper.

Yes you can - at least I do. Just take out the old - put in the can with the new and shake to mix.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

A lot of people do that to ease the transition from one lot to the other. Ive done it with Varget with no ill effects.

That is against one of the 10 Cammandments of Reloading.

Seriously, don't do that with powder or primers.

I always mix my last little bit of one lot with my new bottle. I don't see the problem at all with this as long as you take care of your powder and store them at room temp and in a dry place. Never caused a problem in function or accuracy.

I know, I know, consistency is the key to reloading but I've never noticed any downside to mixing the same powder types together.

NEVER MIX DIFFERENT POWDER TYPES TOGETHER!!!!!!!

Ooops - I have a confession - I've even been known to mix different types of the same brand powder to achieve my own proprietary powder, for example 2 parts RL12 & 1 part RL15. But I've also been reloading for 30 years and undersand burn rates. BY the way the above mixture was a good target powder.

I've thought about mixing my own to try and get the best of both worlds but I'm to chicken. It can be done if you know what you are doing.

I also mix the last little bit of an old batch in with the new powder. I have never mixed powders of different types.
