Plated never shot well in my revolvers, but I only tried berry's and Everglades. Of these 2, Everglades was "better"(subjective). If you catch Everglades on sale, they can be a really good deal. I don't really see the point of played when fmj is a few pennies more.

Xtreme is what I use for plated, found the Berry's too soft.

Notes taken, few pennies is not an issue here, how about the ACCURACY between Plated and Jacket bullet ? Please tell me more about the improvement of the Jacket over the Plate bullets.

Seriously, I do not want to change the process, "when it worked then don't change it " I learn it at work . Once I changed to Coated Lead Bullets, I got the problem with lead fouling barrel, I learned the lesson. Plated bullet had served me well so why change it, unless I got an improvement with the new Jacket bullets.

Back when I used to use plated bullets I used Berry's. Their customer service was A+ so I supported them regularly. Since prices have increased significantly however I have been forced to stop using them for bullets. Alternatives I have used include Xtreme plated and FMJ, Black Bullets International Hi-Tek coated bullets, and Moly coated bullets from Bear Creek Supply.

Never noticed an accuracy difference between any of the types of bullets - at least at the ranges I was shooting from with pistol (7-15 yards).

Question: Why do you mention now is the time to get plated bullets? Is it because of AB3071?

I've used Berrys, and Xtreme in the past but my last 3 rather large orders have been with Everglades. I don't notice any difference in accuracy and the plating is consistent as far as dimensions and weight. With the rise in purchase cost from Xtreme and no bulk priceing I feel that I get the most "bang for the buck" from Everglades that includes free shipping and occasionally discounts to get a even better return for investment. All around pleased with Everglades at the present time. I'm in NorCal and my shipments have arrived within 5 days of ordering. That is East Coast to West Coast !!!!!

No, I just have couple K of 9&45 brass and run out of 9&45 bullets, time to restock.

Speaking of AB3071, no more lead ammo on indoor range right ? If that law pass then the range and LGS will not sell lead ammo no more, that will be affect on 45LC ammo only, the only ammo they sell is lead. The indoor range personnel's will search ammo the same way they search hollow point and steel shell ammo (Wolf ammo), the reloader just need to stealth their coated SWC ammo a little bit.

Uhh if it passes, it will apply for indoor and outdoor shooting ranges. Also the bill doesn't specify if they mean hard cast lead (exposed lead), or any projectile that utilizes lead in its construction. I am certain the bill refers to the latter. This bill will affect ALL cartridges as it is requiring "lead-free". It's already pretty easy to tell the difference between a plated bullet and a jacketed bullet unless the jacketed bullet has been polished.
