Alliant Red Dot Recipes???

My dad found 16 pounds of Alliant red dot at an estate sale.

I looked on the webpage and there was only a few recipes available.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I use 5gr of Red dot for my 45ACP 230gr loads. Not the cleanest stuff but it works well.

2005 Alliant Reloading Guide has Red Dot loads for those calibers. What bullets are you using in each? Or, maybe I can just email you the PDF.

.40, .44 MAGNUM, .357

Red Dot would be useable for .40SW (moderate loads) but with .44Mag or .357Mag it's only for light plinking loads (ie 44spl/38spl).

Red Dot to much too fast for magnum applications.

With .40SW with a 155-165gr lead bullet, I would consider start at 4.0grs and work up to ~5.0grs. Don't push it too much, as the pressures will really build quickly. Always check for any pressure signs and stop as soon as you get any pressure indications or proper functioning.
