For cast bullet lube, I use Liquid-Alox. It's a little smoky when you fire it, but it sure does work well. Experience has taught ne not to be shy with it.

I do like the powder-coating idea, though. That's getting more popular, and it's something I may need to try. But that aluminum-NASA "gas check" actually sounds kinda cool; Space-Age bullets! :-D

For fluxing your lead, sawdust does a fine job. If you have a source of sawdust, just use that.

To be a true Liberal, you must be 100% pro-Second Amendment. Anything less is inconsistent with liberalism.

Powdercoating was super easy. But don’t use tinfoil under the boolits - unless you like the NASA like thin aluminum gas checks! [emoji38]

You can try parchment paper or the Reynolds wrap non stick aluminum foil , it works pretty good .

Give him a bit , the expert will be by . He likes to troll my posts , is he a stalker ?

Bweise says "I have to say the situation was not at all helped by 22 yr old former Airsoft douches who kept touting here, "But possession is not illegal!" "

Look into berm mining. If there are any local "shooting spots" just dig a couple of coffee cans worth of bullets out of the backstop. The alloy is already right and it's free.

Melt down the scrap and scoop the jackets and other garbage off of the top. Just be careful not to dump anything wet or moist into the pot. The resulting steam explosion throws molten lead a surprising distance.

          It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

With the end of free lead from lead wheel weights, it's not really a good time to be casting common stuff like 9mm or 45 that you can buy for barely a little more than the raw materials costs.
I reserve casting to the less common and lower volume bullets now to save the stash of raw materials I have saved up.
