Small Base AR series dies for 30-06

I was going to order some RCBS dies for reloading 30-06. I am reloading for a Garand and a M1903. I was curious if anyone used the AR series small base dies for 30-06 to be used in those rifles. Those dies have worked great for 223 and 308win, but I was not sure how they would work in 30-06 for older rifles.

RCBS Full-length taper crimp dies work well for both Garand and 1903A3. I have 2 Garands, one with GI barrel and the other with a new Criterion. The 1903A3 had a GI barrel. No issues mixing brass from any rifle. I sized to the shortest chamber.

Nothing wrong with buying an SB die if you are concerned, but the standard FL die will work. .

Small Base AR series dies for 30-06

I have 4 sets of dies for the Automatic Rifle, I have small base die and I have a 2 small base dies that allow the user/reloader to measure the difference between a good full length sizing die and a small base die.

I have never found it necessary to use a small base die. I have cut short chambers, I have cut short chamber that were .014" shorter than a go-gage length chamber. I sized cases for the short chamber with a full length sizing die. And believe it or not the bases of the cases were 'small base'.
