By accident I found a way to remove lead fouling in barrel, here the story.
Not long ago I post a thread asking how to remove the lead fouling in the barrel, those Aces here gave me many advices, one of the advise was shoot the FMJ/TMJ/Plated after shoot lead bullet, I tried that method and had no success, I shot 100 rds Lead and followed by 10 rds Plated.
Sometimes last week, I had only 25 rds of 45ACP Lead SWC left, I used to shoot at least 50 rds each range session, so I brought another 25 Plated and shoot 25 lead SWC then shoot 25 Plated bullet, when I went home to clean the pistol the barrel IS SHINING CLEAN, I just said WOW. Today I shoot 50 rds Lead SWC 9mm, and the shoot 50 rds Plated, went home and clean the pistol, the barrel is clean.
So, I said that I can remove the lead fouling barrel with shooting 50% Lead bullet and then follow by 50% Plated bullet.
OR 25-50 rds of Plated bullet will remove the lead fouling that will be the experiments I will did on the next range session.
I know some of you guy
here, but it is OK.
Planning:
(1) 100 rds Lead 9mm follow by 50 rds Plated, let see the result.
(2) 100 rds Lead 9mm follow 25 rds Plated, let see the result.
(3) 200 rds Lead 9mm follow 25 rds Plated, let see the result.
I just want to know that 50% Plated or 25 rds of Plated is the magic number.
Notes that, I used to reload lead bullet on 45ACP, 44SPL, 38SPL and 9mm. After having the lead fouling barrel problem, I shoot all of the lead bullets and start to reload with Plated bullet only, the only lead I have left is 9mm lead.
EDIT: After the experiment with pix.
here what I did:
- Pistol Beretta M9 (aka 92FS) 9mm
- I shoot 100 rds of Lead bullets
- Then shoot 40 rds copper Plated bullet.
- After 30 rds of Plated bullet the lead fouling on the barrel is gone.
- Couple months ago this method did not work for me because I shoot ONLY 10 rds of plated, now I shoot 40 rds
