A couple thoughts on plated bullets:
- They are just plain lead bullets without grease grooves or grease, using a light plating to reduce leading and provide lubrication.
They are usually sized the same as lead bullets at a couple thousands larger than jacketed bullets.
These slightly larger bullets can cause chambering problems if your chamber is on the tight side or intended for jacketed bullets....always make a sample round and plunk test it before making a whole bunch of them.
- Do not over crimp as this can damage the plating and cause it to flake off.
If you need a better crimp for function or firing reasons, use either plain lead or jacketed bullets.
