H4350 missing in action?

Been investigating getting into 224 Valkyrie, found some interesting loads using H4350. Since this is a powder I do not have, I started checking it out.
Not one vendor had H4350 in stock. A couple didn't state if in stock or not, so I placed a fake order, THEN, sure enough, "Not in Stock, no back order.

I stocked up on everything before the Internet sales shutdown, so have not needed to go looking for anything, but now, thinking of adding a caliber. Not!

SO. Is there a powder shortage? Are vendors just holding back inventory so as not to be taxed at year end? Is this just an election year thing?

A lot of Hodgdon powdered have been in short supply. Varget, H1000, and Retumbo have also been missing for a while. Rumors of a couple of fires (one in the US, and one at ADI in Australia) have been proffered as an explanation. I think you're coming in on the trail end of the shortage, though, as I've been getting emails from vendors who say Hodgdon stock is coming in again.

Bruno Shooter Supply was one I got in the left couple of days; might check there.

H4350 is a popular,frequently used in the 6.5Creedmoor.Supply comes and goes.Varget is experiencing a shortage as well.
Speculation on the National Match forum has Hogdon underestimating powder usage.

I don't shoot any fancy match stuff, as you mentioned. Just the USBR little green rings for myself.

I started loading for the Valkyrie a couple of months ago. Great results with CFE 223. For the 95 gr try MR2000.

keep in mind IMR4350 is so close to identical you can use H data for it in most cartridges. I buy powder when it's available if i need it or not.

Thank you BrassCase for the CFE-223 tip. Realizing that H4350 is not available, I started looking into other powders. CFE-223 bubbled to the top in a lot of tests and comparisons.
I looked and have some CFE powders, but not the 223. It is available all over the place though.

I am shooting for a 88 or 90 grain pill. Need to look further into whether a 6.5 or 7 twist would be best to order.

Oh aside, not a big IMR fan, no reason, perhaps just the month I was born.

What would you say if I told you the Hodgdon and IMR come from the same makers.

I use H4350 in mt 30-06 for my all round hunting load and the difference between it and IMR 4350 except for the fact that H is a Extreme powder is almost none. I get less than 1/4 inch better groups using the H over the IMR, I use the H because of the Extreme feature and that's just about it. Either one would work very well where it's usable. I don't interchange loading data I use powder caliber specific. HTH

You can find people selling H4350 on GunBroker at a reasonable price.

H1000 has been hard to get for like 5-6 years.
