case trimmer accessories question

i just bought and RCBS case trimmer off ebay. it is just the trimmer and nothing else and no instructions or setup. so it looks like i need to buy a pilot and shell holder. can someone please confirm. also it looks like the shell holder different than the one that goes in a press?

Correct. Shellholder for the RCBS trimmer is different than one for a press; looks like a shell 'plate' if anything. Yes, you need the pilot, too.

What I hate about the RCBS pilot is sometimes, the pilot is too large in diameter and if it's spinning off balance (which it will), you're going to get a lot of rubbing inside the neck of the case, and often, it might be too tight as well, so you may have to turn down the pilot.

You might want to try to order direct from RCBS. There is the small chance they will give you the missing parts. If not, they would certainly have them.
