Uniflow 2 metering issue

I've been using RCBS Uniflows for 45 years, I really like them and have had very good luck with the shorter grained and ball powders, especially with the micrometer accessory. A baffle will help a lot getting more consistent drops, but most of the larger stick powders just do not flow well. You got lucky with 4064.

Just the nature of the beast.

When I load hunting ammo for 7 Mag, 300 Win. mag & 300 Weatherby with the big stick powders, I get close with the Uniflow and then trickle to the exact charge. I don't mind the extra time since this is hunting ammo.

Try a baffle if you don't have one installed.

Try this trick I learned long ago.
Take a 4" or so funnel. Cut the spout off so there is about 1" left. Place it on top of the measure. Fill the measure using the funnel and mostly fill the funnel. Now work the handle until a cone of powder is from the funnel to the powder in the hopper. Now use consistent strokes and do not let the funnel get empty.
This helps with putting a consistent pressure on the powder column.

If still having trouble throw short and trickle to desired weight.

You are hand priming? Hand priming will make a bigger difference than 1 grain of powder for accuracy. I read this in an old Rifleman mag test years ago and it seems to be true

it's volumetric so don't rely on it to be any more accurate than +/-1/10 a grain some powders will meter better than others but most extruded will be all over the map. As for hand priming having more effect on accuracy well maybe if you are not seating the primer fully. My 550B has good feel but I have to admit i hand prime all my match ammo.

I get more shot to shot variation with neck tension. Solved that problem with a bushing die and a can of z type moly (dry powder)

.002" neck tension moly the neck then auto drop/trick a powder charge +/- .02 Of a grain gets SD's in the single digits. I've had three shots in a ten shot string read same velocity. at that point it's the accuracy of the chrono

This does work. I use this method when charging 100 or so cases. Keeps the powder column consistent. I put a 2" plastic tube extension on my funnel to keep the powder in the hopper 1/2 full or so and then keep the funnel full of powder. It feeds the powder into the hopper at the same, consistent, level.

Still won't get large stick powders to throw within .01-.02 Grain.

I use a cut off top of a 2 liter soda bottle, but same effect. It's a great tip

Has anyone had issues with it metering one extruded powder fine then not others?

Develop a system where you bump the drum against the end of it's travel twice at the top of the stroke to fill the drum and twice at the bottom of the stroke to empty it.
The bumps causes a vibration through the measure and helps the powder to flow better.
Consistency is key.
The bumps need to be the same every time.
When you have left the measure unused for a while, throw several charges using your normal cadence to get everything flowing normal again before you start using the charges.
