    9x18 +P Czech/PMM

    Hello,

I've been looking around at the various modern 9x18 Makarov options out there, and while I've seen +P offerings from Buffalo Bore and Underwood, they seem to be either the same weight or heavier than the standard 95gr projectile. A lot of reviews for the CZ 82 will mention the Czechoslavakian military using a lighter weight projectile with a hotter load behind it to improve ballistics. I've always wanted to find a box or two to pair with my own 82.

Does anyone know of a factory offering that mirrors the specifications of the Czech round?

Why would you use this gun? It was quite a mistake to make this one in my opinion.
(I am from czech republic and CZ factory is about 7 km from my home ) )

I like all pistols that fire 9x18, it's a fun cartridge, and pretty much all of them look great and feel great to me. I love how snappy they are, too. My P-64 hurts in all the right ways at the range! Reminds me of putting full house .357 Magnum in my Smith and Wesson Model 60. To each their own I suppose.

But I was hoping for some insight to find some appropriate ammo to pair with the 82.

Not many options for 0.364" projectiles. Other than round ball, the only other bullets that I've seen are these weird copper screwdriver bits:

They are great little guns, my came with a new barrel on it when I got it a few years back. They are available again at http://jgsales.com and they are C&R guns! JG is in Prescott AZ.

Did you ever visit the factory?
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Sure. We are making some things for them in our factory.

              That's such a great job!

So it seems like these oddball loadings for 9x18 don't really have a presence anymore in current manufactured ammo. A shame. Maybe one day they will put out a lower grain weight projectile that we can hand load to the original specs. I'd love to see a Paul Harrell-esque breakdown of how much of an advantage that tweak was giving you out in the field, compete with chronometer chart!

I have never seen a mention of light makarov bullets. Can you provide a reference?

Light Makarov bullets? Light AK ammo...Light Kremlin Vodka...Or light Kilo
                  Class guided missile Russian Submarines.

Lelikov and Boris from Stalingrad, unlike Moniue and Antoine with flowers in their
hair USA, do not drink light beer or shoot light Makarov pistol bullets.

Mishaco I think for sure mentions it somewhere in here. Other than that I think MAC did in their CZ 82 video, and I know there's been others. It seems to be a pretty common talking point when going over the history of the CZ 82. It's also been mentioned in reference to the PMM, supposedly it was one of its selling points when they were trying to get Russia to adopt it.
