    RE-START-UP ADVICE

My brother and I just dug our old Ponsness Warren shot shell reloader out, why?, availability of factory steel shot ammo near us is very limited and we have the old loader and experience using it. We are not what you would call high volume shooters just enjoy dove, quail and an occasional round of skeet at the local range which requires the use of lead free ammo at all their shotgun ranges. We don't have any supplies at the time. The question is: what are / is some loads for 20 & 12 that you guys might like for upland birds and skeet using steel shot. We've been out of the shot shell reloading game for a long time so don't even have hulls. How does steel / lead loads compare and what powder loads do you like, do certain hulls & wads perform better for steel. I've got my note book and pencil in hand! Thanks in advance, Mark
Oh no, not another 1911 !

Lyman Shotshell Handbook is what you need to get.
    Stick to their loading info.

Since nobody has mentioned it yet, get the Lyman Shotshell reloading manual and follow the recipes.
Ballistic products also has lots of components and data but having a printed book on your counter trumps trying to look up recipes online because you have no way to prove that online recipes are even safe whereas all the lyman data is lab tested as safe.
          Do NOT mix components.
Follow the exact recipe for ALL components in a specific loading.
