A question about panics and components

I wasnt reloading through the last few panics but I recall people posting about issues finding primers and powder. Was projectile availability an issue during those times?

Yes, but bullets were always easier to get than primers and popular powder.

Getting bulk .223 and .308 FMJ projectiles were nearly impossible, almost as hard to find as primers.

Components last forever, well, a really long time. You should never be in a place that you can't find what you need. Like the sandwich meat commercial, compromise elsewhere.

I started reloading during one of those panics, primers, powder, bullets all hard to get. Eg. I ended up using WSF for my 9mm load because that's all I could get (of the powders on my list), and Precision Delta for bullets - been happy with both and stuck with them (over 30,000 rounds so far). Similarly I use HP38 for 38spl because W231 was unobtainable, have stuck with it because it's much the same thing.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

                  Serious question.

Is there a "legal limit" on how much powder someone can have at their residence?

I mean as it applies to insurance companies and homeowner policies.

If there was a fire at a residence that resulted in a post fire inspection by an estimator, is there a legal amount by which the insurance company could claim the amount of powder present exceeded the legal amount thereby they would deny the claim?

California does place limits on storage of smokeless propellant - 20 pounds - and black powder - 1 pound.

I shot 9mm more than anything else, and I got the best price by buying them a "case" at a time. Which is about 3660 115 grainers. So I had a good supply anyway, but primers were the biggest problem by far. Not any more, for me, because when supply loosened up I got about 25k of them.

But yeah, when you see something on sale, snag a bunch of whatever you use. Even when not on sale accumulate a little every month. How much is a brick of primers these days, 15 or 20 bucks?

                          Primers about $40/1000.

I recall after the double punch of former President Obama being re-elected and Sandy Hook in 2012, ammo & components dried up for two years. Kind of where we find ourselves today with back to back.. to back mass shootings.
