    32 acp components

Looking into components for 32 acp, for a Walther PP
I've seen claims that only 71gr FMJ work reliably, for this pistol.

I prefer JHP in my 9mm load, but 32 acp may not have sufficient power to expand anything. That said Hornady and others make JHP for this caliber.
    Hard to come by though.

I found 85gr XTP at brownells (I think)
otherwise all I've located is 71gr plated round nose.

As to dies (for an XL650), most sets include an expander die which I don't need and of course combined seat/crim die - though reddding make a separate taper crimp die, right now I'm leaning to the lee carbide set - less painful to toss one ;-) and add the above crimp die if needed.

Anyone found good load for the PP and/or source of components?

When I had my PP many years ago, it would not reliably cycle with standard Remington .32 acp FMJ ammo. They didn't have enough oomph to make things work well. Springs in the gun were too strong.
I reloaded using some of the Speer 100 gr half jacket .30 Cal bullets, and they worked just fine. It probably didn't hurt that I boosted the powder charge up a bit.

Be careful with 32 Lee Factory Crimp Dies. Make sure it's a .32acp LFCD, not a .32 S&W DFCD.
Last time I checked, couple years ago, .32acp LFCD had to be purchased with custom die dollars.

The Euro .32acp frames are darn strong, strong enough to shoot .380acp on the same size frame.

My next attempt at loading .32acp will definitely include using a Lyman M die. Half of all my loads
had a case bulge after seating. They all worked just fine. Just not vey professional looking.

How accurate were the .30 cal (.308?)
Data sheet says .311 - .312 though I've heard of people using .30 cal

Hmm Redding Pro series die set, expensive but has separate seating and crimp dies, might be the go.

I will be buying Redding or Forester dies for .32acp. With cases as small as .32 acp there just isn't any room for error.

This guy has a lot of good reloading information. No "umms and ahhs'' and is never trying to sell you something.

You can use 32H&R bullets. Missouri Bullet Co has a number of bullets in the correct diameter.

Thanks - those are .313 which I've read can be too big (higher pressure).

Slug your bore. It's acceptable to go 0.001" over your bore size with lead bullets.

Slugging the bore on a small pistol should be a piece of cake, don't let the idea concern you.
It is a good have the number in your shooting/reloading log.
