i feel like i am saving money but the math only works out if you value your time at $0 and load some less common and more expensive rounds
Yep there's a reason it's called free time . If you leave work early to go load or neglect the children then it's costing you but if you load instead of watching NCIS or the ball game how did it cost you anything ? You weren't doing anything to make any money anyways !

Then there's the you don't save money you just shoot more crowd ? How come they only say that in reloading ? What if you get 2 gal of milk for the price of one . Do you save money or just drink more milk . Wait I know , gas used to cost me $3 a gallon but I figured out a way to have it only cost me $2 a gallon . hmm guess I'm not saving anything , I'll just drive more ?

For those that think your time is to valuable , again how come you only use reloading as something your time is to valuable for . What about grocery shopping ? I mean in that instance you are only spending money with no return on your investment so wouldn't it be better to pay someone less then your value to do the shopping for you . Maybe pay someone to read the paper to you while you build a house since your time is so valuable . Why not ? because we ALL have things we do that are done on are FREE time and we never give it a second thought . Please stop making reloading out as such a drain on all that money you could be making if you just weren't reloading .

    lol just poking fun

    Tolerate
allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

Anyone else find it sad that those who preach tolerance CAN'T allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that they do not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

I write almost everything in a jovial manner regardless of content . If that's not how you took it please try again

"I believe" reloading for .223 and 9mm actually saved me enough money to stock 22lr, so when Ruger decided to not pay California's extortion fees to keep semi-autos on the market, I was one of the people to grab some of the last MKIII and MKIII 22/45 able to be purchased here (22lr shortage so nobody wanted them?), as I was apparently one of the few left with 22lr left during the shortage.
I was happy to pick the Rugers up with my tax refund, while everyone else was dropping a bunch of coin for highly marked-up retail factory .223/5.56/9mm ammo, as I had plenty of those AND 22lr.

During the shortage and price-hikes, I was choosing about any lane at the range I wanted.
THAT was the biggest reloading benefit, staying one-step ahead of the ammo-panic-buying zombies...

EDIT: HELL, during the shortage I noticed that .380 projectiles are about the same weight as 9mm frangable, but the same diameter as 9mm, so I was even able to reload more 9mm when 9mm projectiles weren't available for purchase locally...

People place the money and their time where they want.

People will pay huge amounts of money on stupid crap just to complain they don't have money for something else. Ah no you have the money you just choose to spend it on a video game.

It's all about priorities. which is why some won't bat an eye at dumping $1000 on ammo but refuse to send a few hours reloading

Even using plated bullets I generally save about 50% over store bought.
