I just picked up the Frankford Arsenal hand primer from midway on sale. its all metal except for the tray and has a micro adjust for seating depth. It uses the same type shell holders as the lee and comes with 11 of them. The supplied shell holders don't exactly have the best cartridge fit for the ones I tried but are serviceable. so far in the week I've had it I've primed about 800 38 spl., 1200 45 acp, 100 300 WSM and 100 .45 LC. So far I'm pretty happy with it.
I started with a lee auto prime(?) back in the 80s when they came with a round tray and it worked well, when I killed it I went to a RCBS of the same style and it was a pile. I then went to a rcbs bench mount unit which I still have and use. It has real good feel but is slow. so this FA unit will make a good companion for large batches of brass.

Having pretty much all Lee reloading equipment, I bought one of those. What a colossal POS!! I sent mine back asap. I was so disappointed.

Still using my old Lee's, wish someone would come out with an ergonomic one that wasn't junk. My thumb needs a rest every hundred primers. Getting old.

I have an old Lee and 2 Ergo and the Ergo has been much better for me than the old design.

While I love Lee products, and have one of their old, and I mean old, hand primers that requires special shell holders, and requires loading one primer at a time. I mostly use the RCBS APS Hand Priming Tool. I find the priming strips quick, easy and very safe, with the ability to use all brands of primers. The tool provides a good feel of primer seating, and it uses a universal shell holder mechanism that fits nearly everything. I also have used the RCBS APS Bench Mounted Tool, better for old hands, but it is now buried somewhere in reloading tool graveyard after I remodeled my gun room.

Same with my RCBS Pro 2000 Progressive Press, with APS primer system, it never jams, and I can easily add strips as they are consumed, unlike the tube fed mechanisms. It cranks out everything from dinky .357 Magnum to .480 Ruger and petite .204 Ruger to .45-70. I had nothing but breakdowns with an early model Hornady Lock N' Load Progressive Press priming system, that was sent back for modification, but still had problems.

For unnecessary complex priming, I use the RCBS Automatic Priming Tool modified with Darrell Holland's Perfect Primer Seater kit, where varmint cartridges have uniformed primer pockets and each primer is seated to a uniform depth, as measured by a dial gauge. Really cool for 6mm PPC and 6mm BR Norma, but whatever accuracy gain is probably offset by my aging eyes, but it feeds my need for folderol as reassurance that everything that can be done is done.
