    Walmart ammo sales?

My local Walmart still has a case full of ammo, but as of 7/30/2019 it is locked up and there is a sign on the case stating they can't sell ammo because of system issues. A week or two ago, one of the staff told me their printer wasn't working.

Is this affecting all of the Walmarts in California, or am i just lucky to live by the one that is unable to work it out? Its a whole month now since the new ammo sale law went into effect, you would think they would have their stuff up and running by now.

Sure Walmart sells a lot of cheap crap, but they have been a pretty reliable source of 9mm for about $0.17/round plus tax, so it has been a convenient source of ammo for practice and recreational shooting.

American Canyon is selling ammo. I stopped by on Sunday, they were helping another customer, it took forever due to inept employees. I was tired and figured I would come back later on.

I was in the Lancaster Calif. Walmart today. Case full of ammo, instructions on required ID posted. Talked to the employee, she said many are trained to do the processing of the sale.
Problem is no one is buying much of any ammo. She suspected that on that basis that they may stop selling it eventually if it isn't selling. She also mentioned that it is a low markup item,
not a whole lot of profit in it. Guess that wasn't a problem when it moved briskly, but.... Use it or lose it? Anyone see this coming?

Its simple economics for those guys -- you have a certain amount of floor space, and you fill it with whatever is going to generate the most cash flow. So if their ammo sales decrease, at some point they are going to look at that big case and say "we can make more money if we use that space to sell some more made in China crap" and one day you will walk in and where the ammo case used to be will just be an aisle full of Hello Kitty products or whatever.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to push our friends here to increase their Walmart ammo purchases. Its truly a use it or lose it situation.

I had no issues buying ammo at the Huntington Beach Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. Best prices & selection I have seen in years!

                              Cheers,
