I have an opportunity to purchase 768 round cases.
What is the going rate per round.
I don't shoot 30-06, but just recently scored an M1 Garand and now need some ammo.

This link should help you figure out a fair price. Keep in mind that used Lake City brass may be crimped so you'll have to swage the primer pockets before you prime the cases.

I hope this is mil surp ammo and US made mil surp?

You can kill a M1 real fast with the wrong ammo. bullets no heavier than 175gr and no faster than 2700 fps is your max if you want to keep you gun in good working order.

Mil surp ammo is expensive and runs about .5-$1 per round

LS what year? CMP boxed broke down ball that was linked? WWII Corrosive LC ammo? I sold my lake City 68,69 and I think it was 72 ball for 60 cents per round 2 years ago. 50 cents would be good if it's good clean stored right ball, WWII AP would bring double that if it's clean and stored right but is corrosive.

Look for lot numbers on the outside of the crates. Then look up the lot number on various sites that tell you what year it was made. Corrosive stuff (pre 1953?) is worth less than non-corrosive.

If this stuff is non-corrosive, in good condition, in spam cans and the spam cans are still sealed, 50 cents a round is a screamin deal.

Wood crate wrapped or wood ammo box with 30 cal ammo cans in it? spam cans? no doubt it's been a repack at some point. Pictures would help a lot, personally I prefer the WWII AP then ball but I don't care about corrosive or not. I clean my rifles if I suspect it's corrosive with hot water or use some of my WWII/Korea corrosive solvent. We used to use the AP for shooting in match because it shot so good. Ball is well ball but it might be the alternative tri metal bullet, copper over mild steel lead core and no it wont hurt your guns any more than AP would and it wont hurt them. Could be in blocks and bandos without a look you'll never know. I quit using 30-06 M1's and use a .308/7.62X51 M1 now, goes good with my LRB M-14, thank you Lew. No matter what if it's good clean ammo you can shoot and reload the brass and a decent price makes it all the better. You'll never see the good old days of ship loads of Greek or USGI coming in again.

Okay, there is 5 cases of 42571, and one old green cannister with key unopened. Didn't get the lot number on that one. All of them are in clips

If it's good clean stuff ya I would think so. Ask them to open a can and show it to you, I would. 5 crates of 1000 rounds each and a spam can? pictures would help a lot.
