Intro to reloading

What is the best place to find brass, bullets etc for 45 colt, thats the only thing i really plan to reload and maybe 45 acp if its not too different. I think id be ok with just a single stage, i have a guy locally who is going to hopefully show me how to do it. Any good single stage presses that are aquireable for about $100?

Any places local to san diego that are good with reloading and not too expensive?

I may have some does for you at a reasonable discount. I also have a lee single stage on a midway stand I will post for sale as soon as I skip going to the range and take time to post it. Pm me for photos and more info. I have scales and a bunch of other reloading stuff to sale also.

Check out Ammoseek.com to find the best prices for reloading supplies. You might also consider having a look at the private reloading sale listings for used brass instead of buying new.

I suggest you buy used, most reloading gear is well built and you won't be compromising buying used vs new and you will end up with more for your money. In your price range I'd prefer a rockchucker(any model/age) as that's what I started with but any will work. I like the quick change Hornady system for the dies, makes it nice and quick.
I'd prime using a lee hand primer, in fact I still use mine for bolt rifle brass.
Try to stick with Carbide dies for straight cases like .45lc.

What he said - Buy a good setup to start. Lee works but in the long run I prefer RCBS. An old Jr will work fine for handgun and small rifle rounds. Ir you ever want to get into belted magnums or 308/30-06 type or resizing to fit old military stuff you'll want a Rock Chucker.

Starline brass is excellent for new brass.
