    9mm Cost vs. 223

I thinking about building a 9mm AR and would like to know the price difference between 9mm and .223... I plan to reload at some point.

    Thanks

          9mm

9mm is about half price of .223.

Thanks guys for the input...I'm a noobie here so excuse the post being in the wrong place. As far as the image, ya it's cool but was trying to place it as a signature... didn't work.

9mm is around 8 cents a round to reload and you can reload 400 in one hour on a dillon from scratch.

.223 is around 25 cents a round to reload and you can reload at best 100 rounds once you take into account checking for OAL of the brass, trimming, etc.

There just is no comparison in cost, although you would be hard put to use 9mm at 300 yards. But two uppers and shoot both calibers...and than buy a 22lr conversion kit so you can really shoot all you would like.

This is my run down for my most basic 9mm... 7-8 cents for 115gr plate bullet + 2-3 cents for primers + 1-2 cents for powder = 10-13 cents/round

                    .223... 8-9 cents for 55gr FMJBT + 2-3 cents for primers + 5-7 cents for powder = 15-19 cents

This is of course before the recent crazy pricings!

                      I'm loading 9mm for $78 per 1000 and 223 for $158 per 1000 using primers at $20/1000 and powder at $15/lb.
You have to buy in serious bulk and participate in group buys to get these prices, but it's do-able.

I think this is an appropriate forum for OP question.

So here's a follow up question. Is it worth it (time=money) to reload 9mm considering the cost of it new? I have been saving brass to reload 9mm but my neighbor says when you account for the time to reload 9mm you might as well buy it.
