When will affordable lead free frangible ammo come back?

Less than a year ago I could buy RWS Copper Matrix 9mm at my local Sportsman's Warehouse for 20 cents a round plus tax. I could also buy RWS Copper Matrix 38 Special ammo for something like 30 cents a round. This ammo worked perfectly in my guns and was safe for shooting steel targets even at short range. Even on the internet and in other states, it seems like the RWS ammo has disappeared. Now lead free frangible ammo is hard to find and very expensive. Why is this? I thought lead free would be more and more available as more bans on lead ammunition are phased in.

A lot of frangible is made for a government contract- they make an overrun...
When the overrun hits the market, it is cheap....

That has been my experience... Hornady Gold dot in 250 round boxes for $1.50 more than ball.... I purchased a ton

Gee I would really like deer tags to be 2 dollars again, or maybe a box of 30-30 Winchester silver tips for 2.95 again.

I'm not talking about the price of ammo now compared to ten years ago. I'm asking why the lead free frangible ammo I was using up and disappeared everywhere within a few months. All calibers of this ammo have disappeared. The lead free 9mm that I can find is triple the cost, and lead free frangible that I can find is about five times the cost.

Snarky comments are fine and sometimes entertaining, but if anyone knows what's going on in the market for lead free and frangible ammo, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Lead free hunting law is going to be in full effect soon so people are buying it up. Demand just increased so prices will only go up.

I had some steel shotgun ammo on market and pulled it. another week and rabbit opens.

It's pretty obvious that people are buying it up. The prices I posted above were not "snarky" comments, they were facts of what those things used to cost me and it was a hell of a lot longer than 10 or 20 years ago. If those items cost that price right now "YOUR" dollars would be worth a lot more than the 3-6 cents on the dollar they are worth right now. By the way there's plenty of non lead available, just not in Calif. the reason for that is it isn't required in other states like it is in Calif. for us it's a option that some choose to use or not.
