    454 lightest weight bullet

Looking for the lightest bullet weight anyone has used in a 454. I thought people loaded the 454 down to around 185gr copper jackets a friend said never lower then 250.

    Thanks,

    Beyond the question of "why",

If you are looking for real 454Casull loads, you could probably experiment with185gr solid copper bullets. However there are a number of CONCERNS: There would probably be EXCESSIVE gas cutting of the barrel throat/top strap. Pressures could be peaky.

Would NOT recommend using at bullet made for 45ACP or low power 45Colt. These bullets are too soft for use at 454Casull pressures.

Bullets suitable for the .460S&W would be suitable for the .454Casull.
    Luck favors the prepared.

The original battle plan did not survive initial contact with the enemy.

We were talking about high velocity loads and it came up because I thought I had seen someone talking about loading a 185gr he said no way not possible. So I figured I would check to see what you guys had loaded down to.
