My case prep business proposal!

I just built a case prep tool head for my press. It will deprime, resize, swage, trim, chamfer and deburr in one pass.

I wanted to check with the community, I was planning to propose the following to a few friends.

Since I hate to pick up cases and wash them, doss the following sound like a good deal?

If you bring me cleaned 223 cases, for half the cases as payment, I will prep them to the point where they are ready to reload.

Would any of you take that kinda deal?

I would seriously consider it if you lived within maybe 40 miles, you were willing to set up your sizer to produce rounds that fit my rifles, and I could wait while my half of the brass was being prepped. I assume you're talking about .223.

If I have to ship it, the idea is less attractive depending on who pays for how much shipping and whether you'd adjust the die so the finished product fit my rifles.

K. One guy thinks its a fair deal. Will post to a couple of friends first to see if I get bites.

Not only will my case prep set up reduce my loading times, it may do away with picking up 223 cases at the range as well

Can we get a video of the tool in action? You might get more bites on selling the tool. I will look at anything that can do all those steps above and will save me time.

Personally I wouldn't. Even in my area which is a small town I wouldn't drive somewhere to drop off and pickup brass, especially when I reload and could do it myself. I think everyone who reloads has a fantasy about making the investment of their reloading equipment work for them but when you look into the logistics and how many cases you would have to prep just to make pennies, with the wear on your equipment it's just not worth it. I have a 1050 and Dillon rapid trimmer, giraud annealer, large home built wet tumbler etc. really the only thing I lack is an auto drive for my press and still it's noth worth it for me. So I guess if you just want a way to get some brass without having to pick it up yourself you may get one guy to make that trade every so often, but you run the risk of him not being happy with how the swage turned out, neck burrs, trim length etc. if it were me I'd buy a nut wizard so you don't have to bend over.

I think it would be a fair deal, but like the previous poster mentioned, it would have to be within drop off distance, since shipping costs both ways would push the cost past the fair deal range

Yeah, it'll be a local deal, and less a business and more out of convenience.

I'm getting up there in the years, and saving myself manual labor is a big incentive these days.

I do my own case prep so I wouldn't need the service anyway, but that said, I would NEVER agree to give you half my brass. Money, maybe, but not my precious brass.

I do my own case prep too. I just don't want to spend too much time on it.

500 cleaned cases of 223 in my old process takes the following:

1 hour to resize and deprime
2 hours to swage
2 hours to trim, deburr and chamfer
1 hours to load

the new process:
1 hour to resize, deprime, swage, trim, camfer and deburr.
1 hour to reload

It's sometimes easier to buy some.
